Cleveland Bay ocean outfall accommodates one wastewater treatment plant (Cleveland Bay Purification Plant), which serves the area of Pallarenda, Belgian Gardens, West End, City, Hyde Park, Railway Estate, Mysterton, South Townsville, Currajong, Gulliver, Pimlico, Vincent, Aitkenvale, Mundingburra, Douglas, Aitkenvale, Idalia, Stuart, and Oonoonba. Approximately 25 ML of treated effluent is discharged via 800 m plant outfall pipe to Cleveland Bay.
