Mullaloo Beach is a popular destination in Perth's North that has been experiencing water quality issues since January. Murky and discoloured waters have been blamed on a major algal bloom that poses a considerable health risk.
Many members of the community have attributed the poor water quality to contamination from the Beenyup outfall, a wastewater treatment plant responsible for some of the highest nutrient loading in Australia.
